What is Upper Back Pain Called

The center part of the chest attached to the spinal column is called a thoracic spine. It consists of twelve vertebrae (bony segments of the spinal column). Each of this bony segment forms a cage by connecting with both sides of the rib. In medical term, this is known as a thoracic cage. This cage protects the vital organs of our body. The lungs can expand and contract because of the space created by the thoracic cage.

Upper back pain is a type of distress, irritation and uneasiness in the upper region of the abdomen, and backside of the chest. The shoulder blades and the portion connecting the rib cage with the thoracic spine are the worst affected area.
